A Reviews - Not in Alphabetical Order

Bruce Alexander - Person or Persons Unknown

This is yet another series! Perhaps you have read others in the Sir John Fielding Mystery series, but this is my first. I have to admit I was a bit leary of reading another period mystery, a couple of the other Victorian-era mysteries I've read weren't very good. But I was intrigued with the fact this on mentioned the Bow Street Runners. Some of you may not have ever heard of them before, but they were the precursors to the Bobbies of London. The Runners go back to 18th century England, around the era of our American Revolution. London in those days was pretty dark and viscious, and a lot of mobs were running around. So I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered what a delightful novel this is! The narration is very authentic to the time period, and the descriptions are wonderful. This is a great mystery story, there are a series of heinous crimes being commited against prostitutes, and there are a couple of good suspects. For those of you who like method in crime solving, I think you will really enjoy this. The historical setting is so well done and the characters are so true to life, I think this is definitely one you should read. I know I am going to look for the other titles in this series. So far I think there are only 5. You will not be disappointed!
